American Missionary, Lucas Richard, Faces Attempted Murder Allegations Of His Second Wife in Liberia

 

An American missionary, Lucas Richard, found himself in deep trouble in Liberia as he faces allegations of attempting to murder his second wife, Jessica Lloyd, just weeks after she joyfully announced her pregnancy. 

The shocking incident has sent shockwaves through the community and ignited a complex legal battle.

Jessica Lloyd's family has accused Lucas Richard of injecting her with unknown drugs, resulting in the termination of her pregnancy. This disturbing revelation has added another layer of gravity to the case, as the Liberia National Police have swiftly initiated an investigation into the allegations against Richard.

Despite the harrowing ordeal she endured, Jessica Lloyd has emerged as a survivor and is now bravely sharing her side of the story. 

In stark contrast, Lucas Richard vehemently denies the allegations, insisting that Jessica was injured in a motorcycle accident after she insisted on taking a ride home herself.

The Creekside Church, with which Lucas Richard was associated, issued a statement clarifying their position. They emphasized that Lucas was not a member of Creekside but belonged to a church in Liberia, which he had founded. 

According to an eyewitness in Liberia, Lucas had entered into a second marriage with Jessica, a fact that was previously unknown to both the Creekside Church and Lucas's first wife.

Lucas Richard provided his statement to the police, claiming that Jessica had asked him for money to purchase groceries. After their shopping trip, he dropped her off by the roadside so she could catch a motorbike home. 

According to him, tragedy struck when a motorcycle seemingly came out of nowhere and struck her.

Jessica, on the other hand, vehemently contradicts this version of events. She alleges that her husband, with whom she had a traditional wedding ceremony, attempted to kill her with a knife. She describes a chilling encounter in which he threatened her with the knife while they were near a riverside, indicating his intent to harm her.

The relationship between Jessica and Lucas is complex. 

Lucas, a Missionary of the Creekside Church, had moved to Liberia with his American wife. Jessica had been attending the mission where Lucas worked when he expressed his desire to marry her as a second wife, despite already being married to an older woman. 

Polygamous marriages are not uncommon in Liberia, comprising a significant portion of the country's marital unions.

Jessica's mother revealed that following their traditional wedding, Jessica returned to her boarding school, where rumors of an affair with Lucas began circulating. Lucas expressed his intention to find an apartment before returning to the United States, but complications arose. 

Ultimately, Jessica found herself back with her family, and her pregnancy was confirmed.

However, the situation took a terrifying turn when Lucas allegedly administered an injection that led to the termination of Jessica's two-week pregnancy. Jessica's mother, initially hesitant to believe the injection was intentional due to Lucas's caring behavior, later became convinced of his wrongdoing.

The Creekside Church initially posted a Facebook statement, alerting their congregation to Lucas's dire situation, portraying him as a victim of an attack and robbery. 

Subsequently, news emerged of Lucas's incarceration and the grave charges against him.
