Blessing Karami Murder Case: Boyfriend Detained in Nigerian Student's Murder as Police Vow to Solve Karami's Untimely Death

In connection to the tragic case involving the murder of Blessing Karami, a student at Nigeria's National Open University in Abuja, law enforcement has taken a suspect into custody.

The individual, known only as Aminu, is reportedly the late Karami's boyfriend. Authorities detained him following an extensive questioning session related to her disappearance.

Blessing Karami, who was reported missing on September 11 after taking a taxi home from work was discovered deceased a few days later in the woods near the Karimo area of the Federal Capital Territory.

Karami's older brother, Genesis Moses Karami, informed the police that he received a mysterious call providing information about his sister's body on Tuesday, September 19. However, this lead turned out to be false.

He recounted, "The caller claimed to have seen a female body in Idu, so we asked him to describe what she was wearing. Remarkably, he accurately described what my sister had worn to the office on the day she disappeared." Mr. Karami conveyed this information to the authorities at the Durumi Divisional Police Headquarters on Wednesday.

Mr. Karami also informed reporters that, as they were unable to reach the Durumi DPO, he visited the police station at Karmo. Upon arrival, along with a group of officers, they encountered difficulties with the caller who continuously changed his location, ultimately causing them to abandon the search.

He further stated, "We later found her decomposed body in the nearby Karmo bush. It was not feasible to move it, so we had to arrange for environmental authorities to assist in the retrieval. Transporting it was not an option, given the advanced state of decomposition."

In response to this development on September 21, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, conveyed the police department's determination to unravel the circumstances surrounding Miss Karami's unfortunate demise.

Adeh said, "Blessing Karami, a 26-year-old woman who had been missing since September 11, 2023, was tragically discovered in a wooded area in Karimo. Her disappearance was reported to the authorities on September 14, 2023.

"We wish to inform the public that our primary focus at this time, under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Haruna Garba, is to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding Blessing Karami Moses' untimely death.

"Our commitment to this case is unwavering, and we are determined to uncover both the immediate and remote causes of this tragic incident.

"While we are working closely with the Abuja Environmental Protection Board to facilitate the respectful retrieval of the decomposed remains, acknowledging the sensitive nature of this task, we will continue to provide updates to the public as our investigation progresses.
