Daytona Beach Police Apprehend Women for Shocking Baby Abuse on Seabreeze Boulevard After They Aggressively "Tossed A Baby Back and Forth Like A Toy"

In Daytona Beach, two women found themselves in police custody on Seabreeze Boulevard after witnesses observed them engaging in concerning behavior with a baby.

Sierrah Newell, aged 20, and Brianna Lafoe, aged 19 (both pictured above), were apprehended at approximately 1:30 a.m. on a Thursday morning near the Coyote Ugly Saloon, located at 512 Seabreeze Blvd.

Upon receiving reports, the police arrived at the scene and were informed by onlookers that Newell and Lafoe were mishandling the child in an aggressive manner. Witnesses described the women as "tossing him in the air" and "flipping him upside down," as stated in the charging affidavit.

Customers at the bar and other individuals who witnessed the incident confronted one of the women.

According to the affidavit, one of the women, while holding the baby in one hand, intentionally assaulted a witness who had started recording the incident and also made threatening statements. Notably, Newell, who was on crutches, was reported to be making threats of physical violence toward bystanders, according to the police.

Law enforcement officers at the scene were able to access footage of the incident from the witness who had been struck.

The footage confirmed the disturbing actions: The baby was subjected to aggressive swinging up and down, being shaken upside-down by the ankles, and even tossed "back and forth 'like a toy'" across a distance of approximately 4 feet on the concrete street, as detailed in the affidavit.

As a result of this traumatic experience, the baby was taken to Halifax Health for medical evaluation, exhibiting red marks on the back. An X-ray conducted at the hospital revealed a mark on the baby's arm, suggesting a potential fracture.

The good news is that, according to Daytona Beach police, the child has since been discharged from the hospital.

In light of these disturbing events, both women are now facing serious legal consequences. They have been charged with a felony count of "cruelty toward a child," as indicated in the charging affidavit.

Additionally, Lafoe faces an additional misdemeanor battery charge. Currently, Lafoe is being held on a total bond of $3,500, while Newell has been released, as per jail records.

In another new, tributes poured in for Ian Price, a devoted father of two, who tragically lost his life in a vicious attack by two XL Bully dogs in a serene village in United Kingdom. See detailed story here.
