In Las Vegas, a man has been charged by the police with the murder of the famous rapper Tupac Shakur, a crime that took place almost three decades ago. The iconic hip-hop artist was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996, and the identity of his killer has remained a mystery for years.
On Friday, Duane "Keffe D" Davis found himself indicted by a grand jury in Nevada, facing one count of murder with a deadly weapon. It's important to note that at the time of his tragic death, Tupac Shakur was just 25 years old.
Prosecutor Marc DiaGiacomo has described Mr. Davis as the individual who played a pivotal role in orchestrating Shakur's death, acting as the "on-ground, on-site commander" who gave the order for the killing. This information was reported by CBS News, a partner of BBC in the United States.
Following the indictment, Mr. Davis, who is now 60 years old, was taken into custody while he was walking near his residence.

Shakur's life came to a tragic end on September 13, 1996, a week after he was shot four times while waiting at a red light in his car. His murder has continued to intrigue and inspire numerous documentaries.
In response to the news of Mr. Davis's arrest, radio host Mike Muse expressed, "Tupac was not only a prolific rapper but also a poet and actor. His lyrics continue to serve as a blueprint for culture and society even today. This is why his death has cast a long shadow over us for so many years, leaving us with unanswered questions about what really happened to him."
At the time of his untimely demise, Tupac Shakur was entangled in a feud with his rap rival, Biggie Smalls, who tragically met a similar fate, being shot and killed six months later in March 1997.
The mid-1990s were marked by the infamous East Coast-West Coast rivalry in hip-hop. Shakur was associated with Los Angeles-based Death Row Records, while Smalls was represented by New York City-based Bad Boy Records. The feud escalated after Shakur was shot during a robbery in a New York City hotel lobby, with Shakur accusing Smalls of having prior knowledge of the attack.
Known by his stage name, 2Pac, Shakur released his debut album in 1991, achieving immense success with over 75 million records sold worldwide. He produced chart-topping hits like "California Love," "All Eyez On Me," and "Changes." Besides his musical career, he made a mark in the world of film with roles in movies such as "Juice," "Poetic Justice," "Above The Rim," "Gridlock'd," and "Gang Related."
In June of this year, the late rapper received a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, commemorating his enduring legacy.
