Doctor's Trial Unveils Shocking Poisoning Death of Wife: A Hallucinatory Tragedy

In a Manhattan courtroom, shocking details emerged as the trial of Dr. Jeffrey Harris, a 59-year-old physician from Washington state, unfolded. Dr. Harris stands accused of manslaughter in connection with the tragic poisoning death of his wife, Tammy Harris, in February 2018, during a visit to New York City.

According to the prosecution, an autopsy revealed that Tammy Harris, 55, had fatally overdosed on the dietary supplement Selenium.

The disturbing twist in this case is that prosecutors allege her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Harris, was responsible for administering this lethal dose of Selenium, part of a cocktail of drugs he was allegedly using to treat her mysterious aches and pains, which had begun in 2017.

During the trial, Sarah Hopkins-Hubbard, Tammy's 41-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, testified to the harrowing ordeal her mother endured. She recounted a night when her stepfather, Dr. Harris, had given Tammy so much pain medication that she began hallucinating frogs leaping across the walls of their bedroom.

Despite being diagnosed with lupus by numerous doctors, Jeffrey, who specialized in internal medicine, took matters into his own hands, leading to what prosecutors claim was Tammy's untimely demise on February 28, 2018. Rather than heeding medical advice, he continued with unconventional homeopathic treatments, causing Tammy's health to deteriorate significantly.

Hopkins-Hubbard described how her mother's condition worsened, with her turning yellow and even orange. Tammy's weight plummeted to a mere 100 pounds, and her gums began to turn black. In response to this dire situation, Jeffrey allegedly prescribed a daily regimen of 20 cilantro pills and various other drugs, believing that traditional hospitals couldn't provide adequate care.

Sarah Hopkins-Hubbard expressed her bewilderment during her testimony, questioning why a doctor like Jeffrey would administer such excessive doses that led to hallucinations. She couldn't comprehend his actions, given his medical expertise.

As the trial continues, it's important to note that during their journey to New York City in early 2018, Jeffrey and Tammy sought alternative medicine at the Salerno Center. However, even this center advised against the Selenium dosage Jeffrey was administering to his wife.

Tragedy struck during their trip when Tammy lost consciousness at their hotel, and Jeffrey rushed her to the hospital. Her death was later ruled a homicide in 2019 by the Medical Examiner's Office, which found that she had an astonishing 10-times the recommended dosage of Selenium in her system.

In November 2021, Dr. Jeffrey Harris was indicted on a charge of manslaughter in the second degree. Prosecutors assert that Tammy's condition was treatable but argue that Jeffrey's reckless attempts to cure her ultimately led to her demise.
