Las Vegas Man, Mohamed Muhina Sentenced to 21 Years for Sexually Assaulting A 14-Year-Old Girl And Also Recording The Assault On His Phone

A Las Vegas man has been sentenced by United States District Judge Andrew P. Gordon to 21 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, for recording his sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Mohamed Muhina (28) pleaded guilty in November 2022 to one count of sexual exploitation of children and will be required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).

Back in 2017, Muhina initiated contact with the 14-year-old girl on Facebook Messenger. He later drove to her residence, forcibly pulled her into the backseat of his car, and sexually assaulted her despite her pleas to stop.

This horrific pattern continued between September 2017 and January 2018, with Muhina assaulting the victim two more times. In February 2018, he once again abducted her on her way to school, sexually assaulting her at his apartment.

A forensic examination of Muhina’s cell phones uncovered images and videos depicting him engaging in sexual acts with young girls, including the victim.

United States Attorney Jason M. Frierson for the District of Nevada emphasized that the defendant actively targeted a vulnerable 14-year-old child, committing multiple sexual assaults while ignoring the victim’s pleas.

This case underscores the commitment of the U.S. Attorney's Office to combat child exploitation, working closely with law enforcement partners to identify, prosecute, and hold accountable those who exploit children.

The sentencing aims to protect children from future harm by the defendant.

Special Agent in Charge Spencer L. Evans for the FBI expressed pride in the collaborative effort to bring the defendant to justice, highlighting that the 21-year federal prison sentence ensures one less predator victimizing the community's most innocent and vulnerable members.

This sentencing reflects the dedication to bringing such criminals to justice.
