Philadelphia Hotel Death of American Airlines Staff Member Raises Concerns

The first images have surfaced of the American Airlines flight attendant who was discovered unresponsive with an object in her mouth at a Philadelphia airport hotel, two days past her scheduled departure.

Diana Ramos, a 66-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was found by cleaning staff at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott on Monday evening. Medics pronounced her deceased around 10:40 p.m., according to authorities. Ramos had an item in her mouth when she was found, as confirmed by Philadelphia Police spokesperson Shawn Ritchie.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, led by the Homicide Detectives Division. As of Thursday afternoon, no additional information could be disclosed, the police stated.

An unidentified American Airlines flight attendant shared that Ramos' colleagues are still trying to understand the circumstances and why her crew left her. Ramos, a 25-year veteran of American Airlines, was reportedly on a layover in Philadelphia following a flight from Los Angeles when the incident occurred, as per the airline.

American Airlines staff expressed devastation at the news, offering condolences to the family and colleagues. They assured they would provide support to all affected parties during this challenging period and would fully cooperate with local law enforcement in their investigation.

Ramos' body has been sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy, and the results are pending.

Chief Inspector Scott Small revealed that while the exact cause of death remains undetermined, it was a sudden and suspicious demise being looked into by the police department's Homicide Detectives Division.

Notably, there were no signs of forced entry or struggle, and no weapons were discovered in the room, according to police sources cited by 6ABC.

Inside the room, sealed prescription bottles were found, and investigators indicated that Ramos was on several medications. Marriott, the hotel company involved, is cooperating with the Philadelphia Police Department's inquiry.

Meanwhile in Columbia, South Carolina, Tiffany Jenae Carroll, aged 36, will continue serving her 15-year prison sentence as the state parole board denied her request for early release on Wednesday. See detailed story here.
