Car Crashes into Chinese Consulate in San Francisco, Driver Fatally Shot



On Monday, a Honda sedan crashed into the lobby of the Chinese consulate in San Francisco, and the driver was shot dead by police, as per authorities.


San Francisco police verified that their officers fatally shot the individual following the vehicle's collision with the visa office on Monday afternoon. Emergency responders transported a man covered in blood, who was reportedly unconscious, from the scene.

Officers entered the building, engaged with the driver, and subsequently shot the suspect, as disclosed during a brief press conference. 

The driver was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China reported that the unidentified driver had "violently" crashed into the building, posing a "serious threat" to the life and safety of their staff. They also noted damage to their facilities.


In response, they expressed condemnation for this violent attack and asserted their right to seek accountability for the incident. They conveyed diplomatic dissatisfaction with the United States.

The vicinity surrounding the visa office, where the car crashed, was cordoned off, and people were advised to steer clear of the area.
