A tragic incident unfolded in Milwaukee, where a 5-year-old boy named Prince McCree was reported missing and later discovered deceased in a dumpster a mile from his Uptown neighborhood home, as per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. His lifeless body was found around 9 a.m. on a Thursday, approximately 24 hours after he was last seen alive.
Milwaukee police initiated a homicide investigation, and the cause of death is currently under examination. Two individuals, a 27-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, have been taken into custody as persons of interest.
LaTonya Johnson, a state senator and neighbor of Prince's family, mentioned that the persons of interest lived together, but their relationship to the 5-year-old and his family is uncertain. She noted that the parents of the young boy were deeply distressed and spent much of the previous night going door-to-door in search of their missing son.
After Prince's disappearance, police issued a "critically missing" alert to media outlets around 8:30 p.m.
Marie Stillo, a cousin of Prince's mother, described him as "the sweetest little boy" who loved his family, school, superheroes, and the Baby Shark song. He had recently lost his second baby tooth and had just started elementary school. A vigil was planned in his memory over the weekend.
Stillo also created a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for Prince's funeral and a headstone, as well as to support his parents during this difficult time. The campaign exceeded its $10,000 goal.
In her GoFundMe message, Stillo highlighted Prince's love for Transformers, Spiderman, Fortnite, Roblox, and learning. She expressed the family's devastation and the difficult task of laying their young child to rest.
