Dax Franco Willis: Teen Arrested After Violent Carjacking of an Uber Driver

A young man accused of a violent carjacking incident involving his Uber driver is now in police custody, apprehended three days after the alarming ride in Northeast, D.C.

Nineteen-year-old Dax Franco Willis was taken into custody on Wednesday by officers from the Metropolitan Police Department. He faces charges of unarmed carjacking and robbery stemming from the incident that occurred on Sunday, October 8.

The morning in question, around 7 a.m., Willis scheduled an Uber ride to pick him up from a location in the 300 block of Eastern Avenue Northeast. Police records reveal a dispute arose when Willis insisted on bringing his pet Yorkie Terrier along for the ride.

The driver, who chose to remain anonymous, recounted the events, stating that Willis entered her car and demanded that she start driving. As per her account, the situation escalated when Willis produced a bottle of pepper spray, threatened its use, and menacingly ordered her to drive the vehicle.

During the course of the ride, it is believed that Willis forcibly removed the driver from her car and proceeded to physically assault her, delivering punches and kicks to her face and body.

Willis displayed great anger that he even struck her windshield.

As outlined in the police report, he eventually dragged the driver out of the vehicle and seized her phone before speeding away towards Eastern Avenue in Southeast.

The stolen car was later discovered on Southern Avenue Southeast.

Willis was apprehended one day after the Metropolitan Police Department made dashboard camera images from the ill-fated Uber ride available to the public.
