The girl, Charlotte Sena (pictured above), was last spotted around 6:15 p.m. on Loop A, wearing an orange tie-dye Pokémon shirt, dark blue pants, black Crocs, and a gray bike helmet, as per the New York State Police.
Sena was enjoying a camping trip with her family when she disappeared after going for a bike ride in the park. She's described as a White girl with blonde hair, standing at 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighing 90 pounds.
Governor Kathy Hochul of New York addressed Sena's disappearance at a news conference on Sunday afternoon, expressing her concern. The governor met with Sena's parents, who were understandably distressed.
She remarked, "They were here to create lasting memories, the kind that stay with you forever, but instead, the day turned into every parent's worst nightmare." Governor Hochul added, "Everyone saw her as a really kind girl, the kind others wanted to be friends with, the kind who looked out for other kids. Every parent's source of pride. So, it's an incredibly tough time for her family."
Sena hails from Saratoga County, and multiple agencies have mobilized resources, including helicopters, bloodhounds, K-9 units, airboats, and ATVs, in their search efforts. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children stated online that the child was taken under circumstances indicating imminent danger of serious harm or death.
The police received a call regarding her disappearance at around 6:45 p.m. Although her bicycle was reportedly found, it remains unclear whether it was discovered by family members or first responders. Stephanie O'Neil, Public Information Officer for State Police Troop G, described Sena as a highly intelligent and adventurous 9-year-old but noted that her disappearance was out of character for her.
