DoorDash Driver Arrested in New York for Package Theft Scheme

In New York, a DoorDash driver got arrested on Wednesday for allegedly using food deliveries to hide her theft of packages in two separate cases. Juliana Saggaram, a 33-year-old resident of Queens, faces two petit larceny charges related to package thefts reported on Sunday, Sept. 3, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The police department released footage from a doorbell camera capturing one of the incidents.

In the video, Saggaram is seen approaching a house with a food order in hand. Instead of delivering the food, she grabs a package from the porch and returns to her car with both items. She then gets into a car parked near the driveway and leaves the scene.

This particular incident occurred on Highland Terrace in Manhasset on Sept. 3 at 4:34 p.m., prompting an investigation after the victim reported the stolen package.

Saggaram faces charges for a similar incident that occurred at 5 p.m. on the same day in Sands Point. Prior to these thefts, police say Saggaram had picked up an order from Chipotle for a DoorDash customer and then went around the area looking for packages left outdoors.

Saggaram has been issued a court appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in First District Court on Oct. 20.
