Ex-Boyfriend Sentenced to 45 Years for Killing Ex-Girlfriend Amid Courtroom Chaos

A man, who killed his ex-girlfriend to keep her quiet about his cheating, and faced a chaotic courtroom confrontation with the victim's family, was officially sentenced on Thursday to 45 years in prison, according to records.

Frank Deleon received this punishment as part of a plea deal made on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Diamond Alvarez. The courtroom descended into chaos after he admitted his guilt.

First, Anna Machado, Alvarez's mother, stepped down from the witness stand after delivering her statement and started approaching Deleon. A bailiff intervened, and Alvarez's uncle rushed Deleon from behind.

The situation escalated to a brief scuffle between Machado and Deleon's mother.

Deleon was originally scheduled for trial on Monday but didn't appear in court due to an accident, as explained by his attorney. Machado, while apologizing after court on Tuesday, expressed her continued disdain for Deleon, saying, "All this time, he's been laughing, making fun, 'it's a joke.' A life is not a joke. My daughter is not a joke."

Deleon now acknowledges that he gunned down Alvarez in a park near her family's home while she was walking her dog in January 2022. At the time, Deleon was 17 years old, but he's now 19. His motivation was his infidelity, and prosecutors claim he wanted to silence Alvarez about the truth, sending texts saying, "Don't ruin this for me" multiple times.

Deleon lured Alvarez to the park under the pretense of a private conversation, only to use the opportunity to shoot her 22 times. Authorities have stated that many of the shots were consistent with Diamond being on her back when struck.

Machado shared the heartbreaking moment when she found her daughter, saying, "My son found her. I tried CPR, and I couldn't bring her back. I tried so hard to keep her alive. I couldn't."
