Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta Airport Attack: APD Confronts Knife-Wielding Woman at Atlanta Airport, Three Injured



An unsettling event unfolded at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Wednesday when a knife-wielding woman caused chaos, leading to the stabbing of three individuals, including a police officer.

According to a statement by the Atlanta Police Department (APD), officers at the airport were confronted by the woman wielding a knife just outside a security checkpoint at approximately 4:45 p.m. ET. Despite efforts to persuade her to drop the weapon and evacuate bystanders, the suspect stabbed an adult female and an APD lieutenant during the encounter.

Law enforcement managed to subdue and apprehend the woman, discovering that she had previously stabbed a taxi driver before arriving at the airport.

During a press conference, an APD officer confirmed that the stabbed lieutenant sustained injuries to the leg. Fortunately, all three victims were transported to the hospital and were reported to be conscious and stable.




The suspect, identified as Damaris Milton, 44, remained unharmed and is in police custody. The APD is actively investigating the incident, and charges are set to be filed against Milton.

The Atlanta Airport quickly reassured the public via social media that the incident was swiftly handled and had minimal impact on operations. Subsequent updates confirmed that the situation had been resolved, operations were back to normal, and the matter was under investigation by the Atlanta Police.

Known as the busiest airport globally since 1998, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta serves a vast network of domestic and international destinations, connecting travelers to over 150 locations in the United States and more than 75 destinations across 50 countries.
