Love Triangle Turned Deadly: Kaitlin Armstrong's Escape From Justice Fails Again after Shooting Rival, Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson

A woman who had fled the country after supposedly shooting a love rival was caught in her latest attempt to break free, but this time, her dash for freedom only lasted about 10 minutes.

Kaitlin Armstrong, aged 35, is facing murder charges in the May 2022 shooting of Anna Moriah "Mo" Wilson, an emerging cyclist who lost her life while visiting a friend's house in Austin, Texas. Wilson, who had come to Texas for a bike race, had previously been romantically linked to Armstrong's longtime boyfriend, Colin Strickland.

Armstrong ran away from the country after being questioned by the police and was eventually captured in Costa Rica a few weeks later. Her recent bid for escape was far less successful, according to local law enforcement.

Drew Knight, a spokesperson from the Travis County Sheriff's Office, reported, "Armstrong was taken for a doctor's appointment this morning. As she and two corrections officers were leaving the medical facility after the appointment, Armstrong made a run for it. The officers pursued her on foot for approximately 10 minutes without losing sight of her."

After her apprehension, Armstrong was taken to a local hospital for a check-up and then placed back into the custody of the Travis County Sheriff's Office. Details about the nature of her doctor's appointment were not disclosed due to privacy laws.

Knight mentioned that it did not appear she was running to a specific location.

Armstrong had sold her car two days after Wilson's death and was believed to have been dropped off at Newark International Airport in New Jersey. She was eventually captured in June at a hostel on a Costa Rican beach, where she had altered her appearance by dyeing her hair and undergoing cosmetic surgery.

Wilson, originally from Vermont, was a professional cyclist participating in the Gravel Locos race in Texas, where she was considered a favorite. She had a romantic history with Strickland, a professional cyclist, during a period of separation from Armstrong.

On the day of her death, Wilson had gone swimming with Strickland, who dropped her off at the East Austin residence of her friend Caitlin Cash, where she was staying, just moments before the fatal incident.

Jail records indicate that Armstrong is currently in custody, and court records show her trial is scheduled for October 30.
