In Florida, a tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday evening, resulting in the unfortunate demise of a man who had been critically injured during a prior road rage shooting. Law enforcement officers are actively seeking an unidentified suspect in this distressing case.
Kevin Berry, aged 58, fought for his life after sustaining severe injuries in a road rage shooting. Tragically, his struggle came to an end, and he was pronounced deceased several days after he was discovered in a precarious situation on the I-4 off-ramp to U.S. Highway 27 in Davenport.
Mr. Berry, a resident of Altamonte Springs, was heading to work in the early hours, around 2 a.m., as a truck driver for a private contractor. It was during this early morning commute that a concerned witness stumbled upon him lying beside his vehicle. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd shed light on the incident.
According to the witness, the events leading up to this tragedy involved Mr. Berry's white Dodge truck and a dark-colored two-door car engaged in aggressive maneuvers on the off-ramp's lanes. The situation escalated, resulting in both drivers exchanging heated words.
The witness recalled the intense verbal altercation between the two drivers. Startled by the situation, the witness decided to drive past them and exit the scene.
Additionally, the witness reported the presence of at least three other vehicles on the ramp at the time of the road rage incident. The occupants of these vehicles may have witnessed the unfolding events.
Sheriff Judd, while addressing reporters, emphasized the urgency of uncovering the truth behind the shooting. "We need to know who shot him and why," he stressed during a press conference on Monday.
In light of these distressing events, authorities have announced a $5,000 reward for any information related to the shooting. They are urging anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident to contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 863-298-6200, referencing case number 23-42221.
