Children Wounded in Knife Attack Outside Dublin City Centre School.

In Dublin's north inner city, a chaotic scene unfolded near a girls' school, where at least three children are thought to have been stabbed, as depicted in images from Parnell Square East, showcasing a flurry of activity with ambulances and police vehicles. Two children have already been transported to the hospital, according to the Irish Independent.

The Garda Síochána, Ireland's police force, released a statement acknowledging a serious incident on Parnell Square East and noted their collaboration with other emergency services. Providing more details later, they revealed that one young girl suffered severe injuries, while two others sustained less serious injuries. Additionally, a man and a woman were reported to have been hurt, and all five casualties were taken to various hospitals in the Dublin region.

A Garda spokesperson stated, "An Garda Siochana is in contact with parents of all three injured children." The local school involved was identified as Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire, and witnesses noted that the incident occurred around 1.40 pm as children were leaving the building.

Reports suggest that passersby intervened when the suspected assailant attacked the group outside the school. The alleged knife attack is believed to have occurred near the Garden of Remembrance, outside the Rotunda hospital, situated in the square's center. A Gaelscoil, an Irish-speaking school, is reported to be in the area.

The Irish Independent has reported the arrest of a suspect, a yet-to-be-identified man treated at the scene for injuries, adding a layer of complexity to this distressing incident.
