In Northford, Connecticut, Arnaldo Silva, 51, faced arrest following a distressing incident involving the alleged killing of his daughter's 2-year-old bulldog. The North Branford Police Department responded to a reported domestic dispute, where Silva was implicated in the dog's demise.
According to the department's media release, officers were dispatched after receiving information from the North Branford Communications Center indicating that Silva had used an unspecified weapon to fatally injure the bulldog.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers encountered a troubling scene marked by a trail of blood spanning from the living room through a hallway to Silva's bedroom.
Silva was found in his bedroom, sporting a bloody nose and attire drenched in blood. Further concerning was his alleged state of intoxication or drug influence, leading to his uncooperative behavior towards the responding officers. Subsequently, due to his condition, Silva was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for medical assessment and treatment.
A thorough search of the residence revealed the deceased bulldog and a blood-stained kitchen knife found within its kennel. As per the department's statement, the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory is set to conduct an autopsy on the bulldog to ascertain the cause of its untimely demise.
The severity of the incident led to the involvement of the New Haven State's Attorney's Office and East Haven Animal Control, both actively investigating the case. Silva faced charges of cruelty to animals and second-degree threatening, expected to appear in court on Thursday morning.
