Dismembered Body Horror: LAPD Nabs Suspect in Shocking LA Dumpster Find

On Wednesday, authorities apprehended a suspect following the gruesome discovery of a dismembered woman's torso in a Los Angeles dumpster. The LAPD disclosed that a homeless person found human body parts near Ventura Boulevard and Rubio Avenue, leading to a shocking investigation.

LAPD Detective Efren Gutierrez revealed in a press conference that the officers found a dismembered female wrapped in a plastic bag just outside the dumpster. The extent of the dismemberment made identification challenging, although it was determined that the murder occurred within the past few days.

Gutierrez suggested that dismemberment might be a tactic to delay identification, emphasizing ongoing efforts to establish the victim's identity. Surveillance footage from the parking lot guided detectives to suspect Samuel Haskell, residing about five miles away in Tarzana with his wife, Mei, and three children.

Investigators searched Haskell's home, reportedly finding blood evidence and other incriminating items. A neighbor had previously reported witnessing body parts in a bag outside Haskell's house, but when police responded, the bags were gone.

Samuel Haskell, 35, was arrested at a Topanga mall on suspicion of murder. Authorities are still searching for Mei, along with her parents, YanXiang Wang, 64, and Gaoshan Li, 72, who are all missing. Wang and Li also resided in the same home.

The police took custody of the couple's three children and placed them under the care of the county Department of Children and Family Services. Haskell is currently held at the Valley Jail in Van Nuys with a $2 million bail.
