Former Model Files Lawsuit Alleging 1989 Sexual Assault by Axl Rose, Rocker Denies Accusations.

One day before the New York Adult Survivors Act was set to expire, a legal complaint was lodged against Axl Rose by a former model and actress. The accuser, Sheila Kennedy, asserts that the Guns N' Roses frontman sexually assaulted her in a New York City hotel in 1989. Kennedy, 61, filed a lawsuit in New York, claiming that Rose exploited his fame to manipulate and violently assault her.

Kennedy, who detailed her encounter with Rose in a 2016 memoir, alleges that she met the rockstar at a nightclub without prior knowledge of his identity. According to the complaint obtained by PEOPLE, Rose's lawyer, Alan S. Gutman, denies the accusations, stating that the incident is entirely fictional and conveniently filed just before the New York State deadline.

The complaint describes an encounter where Kennedy willingly accompanied Rose to his hotel suite, where he allegedly kissed her against a wall. As the night unfolded, Rose supposedly suggested group sex, making Kennedy uncomfortable. She claims to have witnessed him engaging in sexual activities with another model before leaving the room. Subsequently, Kennedy alleges that Rose violently attacked her, resulting in a painful and bloody encounter.

The complaint further contends that Rose forcibly penetrated Kennedy without consent, treating her as a means for his sexual pleasure. Kennedy states that the assault has left lasting emotional, physical, psychological, and financial impacts, contributing to anxiety, depression, and symptoms resembling post-traumatic stress disorder.

Kennedy's accusations were filed just before the expiration of the N.Y. Adult Survivors Act, allowing adult survivors of sexual assault a one-year window to sue their abusers. Notably, Kennedy previously wrote about the incident in her 2016 memoir, describing moments of distress during the alleged assault. The complaint also references other instances of Rose's alleged sexual abuse, including a past arrest for statutory rape and accusations made by his former partners.
