A Michigan woman, Julie Boxley, is facing serious charges, including felony murder and arson, for allegedly setting fire to the home of Glenn Andrews, the 72-year-old owner of Glenn's Smokehouse, a well-known butcher shop in Ishpeming.
The incident occurred on March 5, resulting in severe burns to Andrews, who later succumbed to his injuries.
Boxley, 52, was reportedly staying at Andrews' residence to assist with the care of his sick wife, Linda. The tragic event unfolded as Andrews woke up to his house engulfed in flames. Despite being transported alive, he suffered extensive burns and ultimately passed away on March 21.
The GoFundMe page set up for Andrews' recovery journey detailed the heartbreaking journey, with his children expressing gratitude for the time spent with him during his final moments.
Additionally, Boxley faces arson charges for an earlier incident in 2021, where she allegedly attempted to set her ex-husband, James Boxley, on fire during a disturbing Christmas Day event. James Boxley recounted waking up to Julie pouring liquid on him, followed by her lighting matches and throwing them while expressing hatred.
Julie Boxley's lawyer, Jennifer France, highlighted her client's history of severe mental health issues. Boxley is currently in jail in Alger County, facing charges related to both incidents.
Glenn Andrews, remembered fondly by the Dearborn Sausage Company, where he worked before moving to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, was described as a cheerful individual always wearing a flannel shirt and suspenders.
The company paid tribute to Andrews, emphasizing his positive impact on others and the deep sense of loss at his passing.
