Las Vegas Toddler Accidentally Shoots Herself with Discarded Gun at Daycare Playground

According to multiple sources, a Las Vegas toddler sustained critical injuries after accidentally shooting herself with a discarded gun found at a daycare playground. The 2-year-old girl apparently picked up the firearm, leading to its discharge and the injury, as revealed by the Associated Press.

Law enforcement officials disclosed that the gun was abandoned at the playground by a teenager, who allegedly participated in a confrontation on a city bus, as reported by the AP, 8 News Now, and FOX 5 Vegas.

The teenager purportedly shot a man on the bus and fled by running through the daycare playground. Although the authorities did not publicly disclose the teenager's identity due to their age, the individual was apprehended shortly after the incident.

Tawnya Rosenthal, a friend of the toddler's family, expressed shock and disbelief, telling FOX 5 Vegas, "I mean, nobody expects their 2-year-old to be shot, this was completely a senseless act."

Rosenthal further revealed that the young girl was placed in a medically induced coma and had sustained a gunshot wound three inches from her heart.

The AP also reported that the man who was shot on the city bus was admitted to a hospital for treatment.
