Sean 'Diddy' Combs & Singer Cassie Settle Abuse Lawsuit Just 1 Day After it Was Filed

Singer Cassie and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs announced the settlement of a lawsuit, swiftly resolved just a day after its filing, as disclosed by Cassie’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor.

The terms of the agreement remained confidential, and all statements made by Cassie, Combs, and Wigdor were declared final in an email circulated by the lawyer.

In her statement, Cassie expressed her choice to settle amicably, asserting a level of control over the terms. She extended gratitude to her family, supporters, and legal team for their unwavering backing during this ordeal. Combs conveyed well-wishes to Cassie and her family, expressing that the resolution was reached amicably.

Combs' attorney, Ben Brafman, did not immediately provide a response upon seeking comment. However, earlier statements from Brafman had vehemently denied the allegations on behalf of Combs, addressing his denial in a statement on Thursday.

The lawsuit had detailed distressing accounts, alleging that Combs introduced Cassie to a lifestyle characterized as “ostentatious, fast-paced, and drug-fueled” after signing her to his label in 2005 when she was 19 and he was 37. Cassie, now 37, claimed that a pattern of abuse began in 2007, describing a series of violent attacks.

The lawsuit portrayed Combs as displaying uncontrollable rage, perpetuating savage physical assaults on Cassie, including punches, kicks, and stomping. It further alleged that he coerced her into drug use and forced her into sexual encounters with other men while filming them.

Cassie's attempt to end the relationship in 2018 allegedly resulted in a harrowing incident where Combs purportedly forced her into her Los Angeles home and sexually assaulted her. The severity of these allegations prompted public attention despite legal norms dictating the nondisclosure of victims of sexual abuse.

Sean “Diddy” Combs, a highly influential figure in hip-hop, gained notoriety as the founder of Bad Boy Records and has an illustrious career spanning three decades. His recent musical endeavors, including his fifth studio album “The Love Album: Off the Grid,” garnered considerable attention, earning two Grammy nominations.

Cassie, known for her hit single “Me & U” produced by Ryan Leslie, made her mark in the music industry with a No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart in 2006. Beyond her music career, she ventured into acting, featuring in projects like Fox’s “Empire,” “Step Up 2: The Streets,” and “Spenser Confidential.”

The legal proceedings took a turn as accusations of demands for financial settlement and threats emerged. Combs’ attorney accused Cassie of persistently seeking $30 million while threatening to publish a detrimental book detailing her relationship with Combs, denouncing these actions as blatant blackmail.

Wigdor, Cassie’s attorney, countered these claims, highlighting Combs' alleged attempts to silence Cassie with substantial financial offers to prevent the lawsuit's filing. He praised Cassie’s bravery for coming forward with the lawsuit, commending her courage in speaking out against abuse.
