According to various reports, a 26-year-old man from Texas stands accused of assaulting his roommate, a woman with autism, by pouring scalding hot water on her and setting her on fire on two separate occasions within the same day.
Allegedly, Kamron Kearney became agitated after his roommate urinated while bathing, as reported by KENS5, WPDE, and KSAT.
Based on an arrest affidavit mentioned by KENS5 and KSAT, Kearney first poured scalding hot water on the woman from over the shower stall. Subsequently, he reportedly drenched her in rubbing alcohol and ignited a fire, causing severe burns to her arms and legs.
Despite the fire being extinguished when she fell, Kearney purportedly forced her to stand in a corner until her legs became swollen, then set her ablaze once more using additional rubbing alcohol, as per KSAT.
The incident occurred on October 25, with a caregiver present during the incident. However, the caregiver's identity has not been disclosed. Kearney was apprehended two days after the incident, as reported by KSAT and KENS5.
Court records from Bexar County reveal that he faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to a disabled person. Currently, Kearney remains detained at Bexar County Jail on a bond of $150,000 for the aggravated assault charge and $100,000 for the charge of injuring a disabled person.
Records further indicate that Kearney has a history of criminal charges dating back to 2017. While PEOPLE's attempts to contact Kearney's attorney were unsuccessful at the time, he is expected to appear in court on December 12.
