Bronx Triple Murder Suspect Accused of Killing Family Members, Including 5-Year-Old Half-Brother

A 19-year-old Bronx man has been arrested and charged with the murders of his father, his father's girlfriend, and his 5-year-old half-brother. The suspect, Jayden Rivera, is accused of stabbing all three victims to death in their apartment on Saturday night.

Rivera was arrested Wednesday after he made some spontaneous utterances at Westchester County Medical Center, where he was undergoing psychiatric evaluation. He allegedly told medical staff that he "did something bad, and that he killed somebody."

The arrest came days after the bodies of the victims were found in their apartment. Jonathan Rivera, 38, was found stabbed in the chest. Hanoi Peralta, 33, was found stabbed 15 times. And 5-year-old Kayden Rivera was found "disemboweled," according to police.

In addition to the stabbings, the victims were also reportedly beaten with a pot from the kitchen, denting the pot.

Rivera's mother told police that her son had been "hearing voices" and that he "thought that Mr. Rivera and Ms. Peralta were going to hurt him." The suspect's bloody clothes were allegedly found at his mother's apartment.

The murders have shocked the family and neighbors of the victims. Rivera reportedly had no history of mental illness and was the first in his family to go to college.

Neighbors who overheard the violence said they were horrified by what they heard. One neighbor reportedly told CBS New York that they heard "the man went … ahh and it might have been the fatal blow and then it got quiet."

Another neighbor told Fox 5 that they opened their door and saw Jonathan Rivera stabbed to death in a hallway.

"I opened my door to go to work and the body was there," the resident reportedly said.

Fernando Cruz, another neighbor, reportedly recalled hearing "a scuffle or something going on in the hallway."

"I know I heard that, and then I heard a woman screaming," Cruz added.
