A former male model, once featured in Aerosmith's iconic "Crazy" music video, was arrested this week for alleged sexual assault. 52-year-old Dean Kelly, known for his role as a young farmer in the 1994 video alongside Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler, faces charges of attempted third-degree rape and sexual battery stemming from an October incident.
According to reports, Kelly met his alleged victim through a dating app. She claims he used a fake name and appeared different from his online pictures before allegedly assaulting her. This arrest marks the latest in a string of legal troubles for Kelly, who has faced multiple similar accusations over the past decade.
In 2014, he received a suspended sentence and probation for sexual battery and engaging with a minor. However, he later violated his probation terms, leading to imprisonment. He has also faced charges of raping minors in separate incidents, taking an "Alford plea" acknowledging evidence but not admitting guilt.
Even behind bars, Kelly's troubles continued. He attempted to hire another inmate to kill the former New Orleans District Attorney and those involved in his case, pleading guilty to threatening a public official and receiving probation. Despite these past offenses, Kelly was released from prison in June 2022.
The "Crazy" music video, where Kelly's role launched him to fame, remains popular, garnering over 661 million views on YouTube. It was a top request on MTV upon its release.
This case highlights the ongoing fight against sexual assault and the need for stricter regulations and support for survivors. While the legal process unfolds, Kelly remains behind bars on a $1.1 million bond
