Made for a Chilling Scene:’ Married Pair Accused of Brutally Slaying 4 Family Members on Shared Property

A married couple from South Carolina, Amy Vilardi and Rosmore “Ross” Vilardi, are facing charges in connection with the brutal stabbing and shooting deaths of four family members. The victims, Cathy Scott, Michael Scott, Barbara Scott, and Violet Taylor, were Amy Vilardi’s mother, father-in-law, grandmother-in-law, and maternal grandmother, respectively.

The tragic events occurred on Halloween in 2015, and the Vilardis were recently arrested after being named persons of interest by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Chad McBride, in a Friday press conference, acknowledged the inevitability of the arrest, expressing, “I think we knew this day would come.” The bodies of the victims, each stabbed and shot, were discovered days after the murders on November 2, 2015. Amy Vilardi reportedly made the 911 call on that day.

While law enforcement has not disclosed many details about the evidence used in the case, Sheriff McBride emphasized the daughter's 911 call as the foundational element. He refrained from revealing additional information, urging the media to follow the court proceedings and cautioning that any disclosed details could be used against the state by the defense.

Describing the crime scene as gruesome and devastating, McBride stated, “They were senselessly and brutally murdered. It was a bad scene. It was probably what some of our folks would probably say was one of the worst things they’d ever seen.”

At the time of the killings, the Vilardis lived on the same property but in a separate house in Pendleton, a small town bordering Clemson. The case has deeply impacted the community, with McBride describing it as "huge" and "scary," emphasizing the brutality and senselessness of the murders.

The defendants, who previously gave media interviews, appeared for an initial hearing on Saturday, where they were denied bond. They are currently detained in the Anderson County Detention Center, and the case is under the prosecution of the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

As of now, no motive for the killings has been disclosed, leaving the community in shock and mourning the devastating loss.
