North Carolina Teacher, Gabriela Neufeld Accused of Sexually Abusing Student, Arrested After Mom Tracks Location
In a disturbing case, a North Carolina teacher, Gabriela Neufeld, 26, was arrested and charged with felony sexual activity with a student. According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Neufeld, a biology and AP biology teacher at South Mecklenburg High School, was allegedly found engaging in sexual activity with an 18-year-old male student on November 29th.
Neufeld's arrest came after the student's mother used a family safety location app, Life360, to track her son's whereabouts and discovered him having sexual contact with Neufeld in a parked car. The mother alerted the police, who arrested Neufeld at the scene.
Court documents revealed that Neufeld and the student allegedly engaged in sexual activity on multiple occasions since October 18th. Under North Carolina law, it is illegal for teachers and students to have sexual relations unless married.
Neufeld was released on bond and ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device and maintain no contact with the student.
The school administration assured families that they take this matter seriously and are cooperating with law enforcement.
