A 38-year-old Ohio babysitter is facing significant prison time after pleading guilty to charges related to the death of a 21-month-old boy she was caring for
Kori Seavers admitted to involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment, and felonious assault in the death of William Bova, according to court records obtained by Law&Crime.
The tragedy unfolded in September 2022 when Seavers, who operated a home daycare, called 911 to report an unresponsive toddler. William was rushed to the hospital and later transferred to a children's hospital in Toledo, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Seavers claimed William fell and hit his face on the floor, but medical professionals found the injuries were far too severe to be accidental. Doctors described the injuries as "nonaccidental" and "consistent with shaken baby syndrome."
Seavers' inconsistent statements to police further raised suspicion, and investigators ultimately determined the injuries were inflicted rather than self-inflicted.
Seavers is scheduled to be sentenced on January 24th and faces the possibility of several years behind bars.
