Deobra Redden's Courtroom Assault Leads to Solitary Confinement

Deobra Redden, known for his shocking courtroom attack on Judge Mary Kay Holthus in Las Vegas, is facing further charges and has been placed in solitary confinement.

Following his violent outburst where he jumped over the judge's bench, physically assaulting Judge Holthus by punching her and pulling her hair, Redden was moved to a single cell.

This aggressive behavior erupted during his court appearance related to a prior conviction for attempted battery causing serious harm. Despite his attorney's request for parole, Judge Holthus opted to sentence Redden, triggering the attack.

Redden's status as a "2C" inmate in the Clark County Jail means he is subjected to the most severe restrictions. He is isolated in a cell, devoid of interaction with other inmates, and takes meals alone within confinement, with minimal time allocated outside.

While Judge Holthus emerged unharmed but emotionally rattled, one court staff member needed 25 stitches to mend a head wound sustained during the altercation.

In light of the assault, Redden faces a series of new felony charges, including coercion involving force or threat, extortion, intimidating public officers or others through force, disregard for personal or property safety, and battery by a prisoner, probationer, or parolee.
