Mississippi Baby Found Bruised and Unresponsive on Doorstep, Mom and Boyfriend Now Fugitives

Mississippi's festive spirit turned cold and dark just before Christmas when a neighbour found a little boy named Prodigy Hunter, barely 1 year old, abandoned on their doorstep.

Prodigy Hunter was in his his small frame covered in bruises, lay unresponsive, his tiny life hanging in the balance. This harrowing discovery ignited a frantic search for answers and justice, leaving a community reeling and authorities on a relentless manhunt.

Jackson Police received the heart-wrenching 911 call at 10 a.m. By nightfall, tragedy struck. Prodigy was gone. Chief Joseph Wade, his voice heavy with emotion, described the case as "extremely disturbing" in a videotaped press conference.

He revealed the baby had suffered "brutal beatings," leaving him with a "massive amount of trauma and bruising." The officer who first saw Prodigy, the chief confided, "couldn't even look me in the face" while describing the horrific scene.

The investigation unfolded like a grim mystery.

Police initially questioned both Prodigy's mother, Yolanda Nicole Hunter, and the neighbor who raised the alarm. Hunter, 29, surrendered on a charge of child abuse, but was released on a $10,000 bond.

However, the plot thickened when further evidence surfaced and the child abuse charge was upgraded to capital murder, a potential death penalty offense in Mississippi. Now, a warrant for Hunter's re-arrest hangs heavy, but she is nowhere to be found.

Hunter is allegedly on the run, not alone but accompanied by her boyfriend, Herman Coleman or Gardner, according to authorities. The search intensifies, fueled by the heartbreaking image of Prodigy's battered body and the desperate need for justice in this unspeakable tragedy.
