A young man's life was tragically cut short in a senseless shooting at a Colorado Topgolf facility late last year. Now, the man accused of his murder faces first-degree charges and a trail of chilling details following him.
Victor Salazar-Guarache, 26, stands accused of gunning down 22-year-old Bryce Holden in the early hours of December 23rd. The incident has left Holden's family and friends devastated, raising questions about motive and the fragile nature of life.
While police haven't yet revealed a motive, the events leading up to the shooting paint a troubling picture. Salazar-Guarache, who worked as a dishwasher at the Thornton Topgolf, had left his shift early that night, returning an hour later just as Holden and another employee were leaving.
According to witness accounts and surveillance footage, Salazar-Guarache allegedly got out of his car, assumed a shooting stance, and opened fire on Holden and the other employee. Holden was struck multiple times and tragically died, while the other employee managed to escape unharmed.
Adding to the horror of the crime, a Lyft driver picking up a passenger at the time reported seeing Salazar-Guarache laughing as he got back into his car after the shooting.
"He was my baby," said Holden's father, Rod, reflecting on his son's bright future cut short. Bryce, a young man with big dreams, was learning Spanish and planning a move to Barcelona within the next two years.
The senselessness of the act has shaken the community and prompted an outpouring of support for Holden's family and loved ones. Topgolf released a statement expressing their shock and grief, pledging cooperation with law enforcement and offering support to their employees.
Salazar-Guarache, who invoked his right to remain silent upon arrest, faces a preliminary hearing in March. The investigation remains ongoing, but the chilling details that have emerged paint a picture of a horrific tragedy that has left a young life lost and a community searching for answers.
