In a chilling local crime news, Nalah T. Jackson, 25, has pleaded guilty to kidnapping charges for stealing a vehicle with 5-month-old twins inside in December 2022. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Ohio sentenced Jackson to 20 years in prison for her actions.
The harrowing ordeal began on December 19th, 2022. Jackson stole a car with twin brothers Kyair and Kason Thomas securely buckled in the back seat while their mother briefly entered a Columbus, Ohio pizza shop to pick up an order.
Jackson drove the twins to various locations before abandoning Kyair at the Dayton International Airport parking lot the next morning. Thankfully, a passerby spotted him and alerted authorities, leading to his safe recovery.
However, the nightmare wasn't over for Kason. Jackson continued to Indianapolis, Indiana, where she encountered a kind stranger unaware of her crimes. This woman offered assistance, later discovering through social media that Jackson was wanted for kidnapping.
Driven by a sense of justice, the woman and her cousin teamed up with police to track down Jackson just three days later. They also helped rescue Kason, who was found inside the stolen car.
Sadly, Kyair passed away a little over a month after the ordeal. The coroner attributed his death to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, but questions remain as he was reportedly left "face down" on a bed with "excess bedding and pillows."
This wasn't Jackson's first offense involving children. In 2021, she faced child endangerment charges after her 11-month-old daughter fell down stairs. She pleaded guilty and received a short prison sentence and probation.
This tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of children and the importance of vigilance.
