11-Year-Old Boy Dies While Protecting Pregnant Mother from Alleged Attack by Felon Recently Released on Parole

A senseless act of violence has shattered the lives of a Chicago family. 

Eleven-year-old Jayden Perkins, a bright and beloved young boy, was tragically killed while protecting his pregnant mother from a convicted felon who allegedly violated parole just days prior.

On Wednesday morning, Jayden's mother was preparing her children for school when the horror unfolded.  

Crosetti Brand, a man with a documented history of violence and a restraining order against him, forced his way into their home and attacked Jayden's mother.

In a desperate attempt to protect his mother, Jayden intervened.  His courage, in the face of unimaginable danger, speaks volumes about his character.

After the attack, Jayden's life was tragically cut short as a result of injuries sustained. 

His mother, though seriously injured, is expected to recover, along with her unborn child.  

The emotional scars left on Jayden's younger sibling, who witnessed the attack, are likely to be profound and long-lasting.

Authorities, including Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling and Cook County Attorney Kim Foxx, have expressed outrage over Brand's release on parole.

Brand's criminal history included a prior conviction for home invasion and aggravated assault, and he allegedly violated parole conditions by threatening the victim and returning to her home.  

Despite these red flags, Brand was released, with devastating consequences.

Beyond the heartbreak, we remember Jayden for his infectious laughter, his love of performing, and his kind heart.  

He was a bright light in his community, a talented young performer who brought joy to all who knew him.
