California Man Claims AI Made Him Confess to Murder He Committed and Posted on Facebook

A California man named Mark Mechikoff is accused of a terrible crime: stabbing a woman named Claribel Estrella in her apartment and then posting a video of it on Facebook. He denies killing her, but also made a strange claim in court - that he didn't really confess, and an "AI" (artificial intelligence) made him say it!

Mechikoff is 39 years old and from Pacifica, California. The police say he filmed the whole murder on his phone, including the victim's last moments alive. This graphic video was then posted on his Facebook page, shocking and upsetting many people.

Even though Mechikoff claims he's innocent (not guilty), he did tell the court that he killed the woman. But he claims this "confession" wasn't real - he says some kind of computer program made him say it!

The police investigation started because someone in Florida saw the disturbing video on Facebook and called the authorities. They also received another tip from Nevada, where someone else saw the video and reported it.

The tips led the police to an apartment complex in California, where they found the victim, sadly deceased. They also found Mechikoff, who knew the victim but the police haven't said exactly how.

The police believe Mechikoff posted the video because he was proud of what he did. However, Mechikoff's lawyers say they need more time to prepare for his case, so the court hearing has been moved to March 21st. Until then, Mechikoff will stay in jail without the possibility of getting out on bail.
