Tragedy in Nashville: Mother in Shock After Accidental Shooting of Daughter

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Nashville on Saturday night.

A 13-year-old girl, Dearria, lost her life after being accidentally shot by her own mother, De'Ann Radley.

The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department (NMPD) received a call about a shooting at a house on Edgehill Avenue around 10 pm.

Sadly, upon arrival, they found Dearria, who had been shot.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Dearria did not survive.

The NMPD reports that Dearria's mother, De'Ann Radley, insists the shooting was a complete accident.

According to De'Ann's statement, she had an unholstered handgun in her purse when the tragedy occurred.

The statement describes how De'Ann was reaching into her purse for her keys when the gun went off.

This resulted in the accidental shooting of her daughter, Dearria.

De'Ann's grief is evident on her Facebook page.

She posted a heartfelt message expressing her pain and went live for a short video, visibly shaken by the tragedy.

"My heart hurts so much," De'Ann said through tears. Later adding, "I pray nobody ever has to feel this kind of pain."

A separate post on De'Ann's page is dedicated to Dearria, showcasing a collection of photos. The caption reads:

"Hold your children close because I lost mine. Words can't explain this pain. My oldest, my twin, MY BABY was so beautiful. GOD, please give me strength. I wouldn't wish this pain on anyone. My heart is shattered. Bug, wake up! Mommy needs you. 13 years, baby, 13 years we've been through so much together. Who will tell me it'll be okay, hug me, and wipe my tears?"

De'Ann's emotional plea continues: "DEARRIA, I NEED YOU. I can't do this, Bug. I love you so much."

In a desperate attempt to cover funeral expenses, De'Ann also set up a GoFundMe page.

The description reads, "My 13-year-old daughter was accidentally shot and killed. I don't have insurance to bury her. Any help during this difficult time would be greatly appreciated. God bless you."

As of Monday, the GoFundMe campaign has raised $2,485 towards a goal of $15,000.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to the police. No charges have been filed at this time.
