An Ohio woman named Karen Casbohm has been implicated in a bizarre crime saga involving the body of an 80-year-old man, Douglas Layman.
This shocking incident has left many curious about the motivations behind such an unusual act.
According to reports, Karen Casbohm, while incarcerated at the Ashtabula jail, purportedly disclosed to a family member the details surrounding Layman's demise and the subsequent events.
Allegedly, Casbohm and another woman, Loreen Feralo, who shared the same residence with Layman, transported his deceased body to a bank with the intention of withdrawing approximately $900 from his account.
During a recorded phone call from the jail, Casbohm elaborated on the circumstances, revealing that Layman passed away on March 4th.
She explained that Feralo and herself found Layman's body too heavy to carry alone, prompting them to enlist the help of a male acquaintance.

In an unbelievable turn of events, Casbohm stated her plan to go to the bank and then the hospital, failing to notify the authorities about Layman's passing.
Both Casbohm and Feralo appeared before the Ashtabula Municipal Court, where they waived their right to a preliminary hearing.
The Ashtabula Police Department, in a press release shared with PEOPLE, disclosed that the women face charges of gross abuse of a corpse, with additional charges potentially pending.
Remarkably, there was no reference to charges brought against the third person involved in the disturbing incident.
As reported by the Ashtabula Police Department, around 5:00 p.m. on March 4, they received a call from the Ashtabula County Medical Center concerning an elderly man, who was brought in dead by two unidentified women.
These women immediately left after dropping the body without providing any information to the staff of the facility.
But through subsequent investigation and communication with one of the women, Layman was identified.
Presently, both Casbohm and Feralo are incarcerated, awaiting further legal proceedings.
