Eighteen-year-old Parker League's visit to Arizona for a summer trip with friends ended in a horrific tragedy.
Last June, League's remains were discovered in a remote area of the Tonto National Forest, known as "The Pit."
The remains were tragically burned and dismembered, requiring identification through dental records.
Prosecutors recently announced a grand jury indictment against Anthonie Ruinard Jr., 38, in connection with League's death.
Ruinard is facing charges of second-degree murder and concealing or abandoning a body.
It's unclear whether he has entered a plea or secured legal representation.
On June 12th, 2023, investigators found League's remains in a pile of debris within "The Pit."
The condition of the remains pointed towards a violent act, with signs of dismemberment, stabbing, and severe burning.
Authorities relied on dental records to confirm League's identity.
Ruinard's arrest came weeks later, on July 5th, 2023.
He was initially charged with first-degree murder and other offenses.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office reported finding DNA matching League's in the trunk of Ruinard's Dodge Challenger.
According to media reports, Ruinard previously owned a restaurant called "Pastiche Modern Eatery" in Tucson, Arizona.
Public records show the restaurant's closure in February 2021 following a minor fire.
Investigators piecing together the events leading to League's disappearance relied on surveillance footage from a gas station in Chandler.
The footage captured League and Ruinard leaving the store together in a black Dodge Challenger on June 11th.
This was the last time League was seen alive.
Disturbingly, additional footage reportedly showed League's bank card being used after his death.
The young man, a recent high school graduate from Nebraska, had arrived in Arizona on June 9th to visit friends.
Sadly, he was reported missing by his family on June 12th, the very day he was expected to return home.
"Our experienced homicide prosecutors meticulously reviewed nearly 4,000 pages of case materials," stated Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell in a press release.
"This indictment, achieved after a thorough five-month review, represents a crucial step towards securing justice for Parker League and his family."
The case is expected to go to trial in July.
