Gruesome Discovery in New York: Couple Found Dismembered, Four Charged

A horrific crime has shaken Suffolk County, New York.

The remains of a couple, identified as Malcolm "Craig" Brown (53) and Donna Conneely (59), were found scattered across several locations in Suffolk County, N.Y.

The victims were reportedly stabbed and dismembered before their remains were dumped in public areas.

Four individuals now face a multitude of charges in connection with this disturbing case.

Indictments Following Gruesome Find

Following an extensive investigation, a grand jury indicted Jeffrey Mackey (36), Alexis Nieves (33), Steven Brown (44), and Amanda Wallace (40) on various charges.

Among the most serious accusations are second-degree murder for Mackey and Nieves.

Both also face charges related to conspiracy, robbery, and tampering with evidence.

Brown and Wallace are not charged with murder but are accused of being involved in a cover-up.

All four defendants have pleaded not guilty.

Alleged Plot and Brutal Killings

According to prosecutors, Mackey, Nieves, and Brown allegedly planned the murders before the victims arrived at a house in Amityville on February 27th.

The victims, reportedly acquaintances of the suspects, were said to have been involved in a gas station robbery days earlier.

This alleged involvement may have been the motive behind the killings.

The indictment details that both victims were stabbed multiple times.

Authorities allege that after the murders, the bodies were dismembered in the house's bathroom.

The remains were then dumped in three separate locations: Southards Pond Park, Bethpage State Park, and a wooded area in West Babylon.

A witness discovered a dismembered arm in Southards Pond Park on February 29th, leading to the investigation's break.

Following the discovery of the body parts, investigators traced evidence to the Amityville home where the suspects were residing.

A search of the house revealed several large knives and meat cleavers, along with traces of blood throughout the interior.

Initial Arrests and Subsequent Release

All four suspects were initially arrested on March 4th.

However, due to New York State law, they were released without bail as the initial charges were not considered bail-eligible offenses.

This decision is likely to be challenged by prosecutors as they seek to keep the defendants detained.

Attorneys representing Mackey and Nieves have maintained their clients' innocence.

Wallace's attorney expressed relief that his client was not charged with murder.

As of now, no attorney for Steven Brown has been identified.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney expressed his gratitude to law enforcement for their tireless efforts in bringing the case to this stage.

He emphasized the importance of basing charges on clear evidence and commended his team for focusing on the facts.
