A vibrant young life was tragically cut short in Lowell, Massachusetts, on June 14th, 2024.
Ahliana Dickey, a beloved 15-year-old girl, was found deceased in her home.
Sadly, she was the victim of an alleged shooting, and the prime suspect was her 21-year-old boyfriend, Trevor Bady.
Ahliana's family grew concerned when she didn't show up for her 8th-grade graduation ceremony that day.
Their worries turned to horror when they found her inside their Lawrence Street home with what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Police confirmed the presence of multiple shell casings at the scene, painting a grim picture.
The investigation uncovered a disturbing possibility: a potential history of abuse.
According to a press release from the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office, Bady and Ahliana were allegedly involved in an abusive relationship.
This claim is further supported by reports from just hours before the tragedy.
Shortly after midnight on June 14th, a chilling call reached the Lowell Police.
A witness reported a fight between a male and female across the street from their home.
The frantic screams of the young woman – "get off me, get away from me, I don't want to be with you anymore" – were unmistakably clear.
What came next were gunshots that shattered the quiet night.
Though police responded immediately, they were unable to locate the individuals involved.
However, security footage recovered from the area shed some light.
The video allegedly showed Ahliana pleading for help just before midnight, followed by a male figure, believed to be Bady, leaving her home shortly after.
A press conference held by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan revealed that the shooting occurred only six weeks after Ahliana's 15th birthday.
Bady now faces a multitude of charges, including murder, home invasion, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He was denied bail during his court appearance on June 18th.
The pain of this senseless tragedy is palpable.
Ahliana's grandmother, Tracy Smith, expressed her grief in a statement to NBC10 Boston, calling Bady a "coward" and a "monster."
Further details emerged during the court hearing, where it was revealed that Ahliana had confided in someone about threats made by Bady just two days before the incident.
These threats included harming both Ahliana and her grandmother.
The investigation also revealed a possible connection to Bady's activities on the night of the crime.
According to the District Attorney's release, an Uber driver reported transporting a suspicious passenger – later identified as Bady – to and from Ahliana's home around the time of the murder.
This information proved crucial in locating Bady, who was eventually arrested in Peabody without resistance.
In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been set up by Ahliana's parents to help the family cope with the immense loss.
The outpouring of support has been heartwarming, with the page exceeding its initial goal and reaching nearly $12,000 in donations.
