Abusive Boyfriend, Jordan De'Ante Talley Kills 64-Year-Old Man Who Intervened in Assault on Girlfriend
A 64-year-old man named Donald Storie was out celebrating his daughter's engagement when his life tragically took a turn for the worse.
According to deputies, Storie witnessed a man violently attacking a woman and decided to intervene.
"That's not right," Storie reportedly said after hearing the woman's cries for help, as stated in court documents reviewed by Law&Crime.
When Storie attempted to stop the attack, the assailant punched him fatally.
Storie succumbed to his injuries 23 days later.
Deputies in Orange County, Florida, have charged Jordan De'Ante Talley, 27, with manslaughter for allegedly killing Storie and with domestic battery for attacking his girlfriend.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred on March 31, at around 1:40 a.m., at the intersection of Robinson Street and Magnolia Avenue in downtown Orlando.
Surveillance footage captured a man, later identified as Talley, "battering" a woman.
The video allegedly showed him pulling her by her hair, throwing her to the ground, preventing her from walking away, and then throwing her to the ground again.
Storie's daughter told investigators that her father had said, "That's not right," upon hearing the woman's screams for help.
He then approached the scene where Talley was attacking the woman.
Using the surveillance footage, officers traced the vehicle involved, which was registered to the woman living with Talley in Georgia.
Documents revealed that the woman stated she was with Talley in Orlando for her birthday on March 31.
They had been in a relationship for four to six months, living together, and her child referred to Talley as "Daddy."
The woman recounted that she was trying to escape from Talley at the time shown in the surveillance stills, but he would not let her go.
She couldn't remember everything due to drinking that night, but she recalled a man approaching and saying something to Jordan.
She said that Talley and the man faced off, and then Jordan punched him.
During a post-Miranda interview, Talley admitted to being in Orlando for his girlfriend's birthday.
He identified himself in the surveillance stills.
Talley claimed his girlfriend was drunk, and he was helping her walk to their car.
When detectives showed him the footage of him throwing her to the ground and stopping her from leaving, he admitted that she was trying to walk away but he didn't want to lose her in an unfamiliar city.
Talley initially claimed that Donald had raised his fists as if to fight when he approached.
However, detectives informed him that the surveillance footage did not support this claim.
Talley then admitted he did not see Storie raise his fists but said his girlfriend told him afterward that she saw it happen.
Talley confessed to punching Donald and leaving him unconscious before walking off to find their car.
He stated that he was not afraid for his life or safety, even claiming he was not scared of anything.
Donald Storie, who passed away on April 23, would have turned 65 on May 5.
