The Fatal Incident
On the morning of March 25, 2023, Kadejah Michelle Brown and her husband, Jerry Brown, were engaged in a heated argument.
The argument was broadcasted live on Facebook.
The couple's troubled relationship, marked by previous cases of domestic violence, sadly reached a climax during this live broadcast.
According to Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins, the argument between the couple had been ongoing throughout the night.
Jerry Brown, in an effort to de-escalate the confrontation, attempted to leave their apartment located at 500 Green Tree Drive.
The video captured Kadejah persistently questioning Jerry about their ongoing issues, while Jerry, holding a phone to his ear, demanded to be left alone.
The video, which grows increasingly tense, captures Jerry telling Kadejah not to touch him and threatening to call the police if she continued to do so.
Despite Jerry's attempts to leave, the argument escalated, involving physical confrontation.
Kadejah's mother, also present during the incident, voiced her concerns, urging Jerry to stay and sort his family issues.
The livestream briefly goes dark, but the audio continues to record the escalating argument.
Suddenly, a single gunshot rings out, followed by frantic cries and a child's cry.
Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene shortly after 7:40 a.m., finding Jerry Brown dead from a gunshot wound.
They also recovered a 9mm pistol which was the murder weapon.
Sheriff Hawkins confirmed that the couple had a documented history of domestic violence.
The Sheriff's Office released a statement emphasizing the senselessness of the murder and extended condolences to Jerry Brown's family.
Kadejah Michelle Brown was promptly arrested and charged with murder.
In May 2024, Kadejah received a 40-year sentence for the murder.
She will spend 34 years in prison, followed by 6 years of supervised release.
