In Florida, a woman was arrested for allegedly killing her 4-year-old son and using makeup to hide the signs of abuse.
Arayiah Hudson, aged 36, was apprehended at her residence on Monday night.
She now faces charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of her son, Joseph, as reported by the Tampa police.
Early on Saturday morning, around 4:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a home on the 8400 block of N. 15th Street after Hudson called 911, reporting her son as unresponsive.
Despite the officers' efforts to revive the child through CPR, he was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
Initially, Hudson claimed that Joseph started coughing and struggling to breathe after consuming potato chips and water.
However, further investigation uncovered a disturbing history of potential child abuse.
A medical examination revealed multiple injuries on Joseph's body, including bruises, abrasions, and internal bleeding.
The autopsy concluded that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and torso.
Moreover, detectives found that Hudson had attempted to hide the abuse by applying tinted makeup to cover the bruises around Joseph's eyes.
She allegedly justified her actions as disciplinary measures.
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw expressed his outrage, stating, "This is a heinous crime.
Every child deserves to feel safe in their own home and especially with their own mother.
The Tampa Police Department is committed to bringing justice for Joseph and ensuring the safety of all children in our community."
Following her arrest, Hudson was booked into the Orient Road Jail.
Authorities also removed other children from her home, placing them with their biological fathers, who do not live with Hudson.
