Man Charged with Murder After Reportedly Growing Frustrated When Girlfriend's 1-Year-Old Couldn't Walk Alone

In Las Vegas, a 28-year-old man has been accused of killing his girlfriend's 1-year-old son.

The young boy was rushed to the hospital last month due to severe breathing difficulties, as reported by the authorities.

According to records from the Clark County Detention Center, Christian Moniz Rabino, 28, is currently held without bond, facing charges of first-degree murder and two counts of child neglect and abuse.

At this time, it is not clear whether Rabino has entered a plea or secured legal representation.

Records show Rabino was arrested on June 25, almost a month after baby Kai Tesoro was hospitalized following tragic events.

Rabino told the police at the hospital that he called 911 because Kai couldn't breathe properly, and eventually stopped breathing completely, according to a police report from the news.

Upon arrival at the hospital, medical professionals found that Kai had sustained bruises on his head and a fracture in his right leg, according to the same report from Fox 5.

Further details emerged from local KLAS, which reported that a doctor had described the suspected abuse as one of the worst cases he had encountered in his medical career.

Initially, a relative had told police that Kai might have fallen off a bed while under Rabino's care.

But later on, the relative wasn't sure if the injuries came from a fall or if Rabino had abused the child.

The relative also informed police that Rabino had shown frustration towards the 1-year-old for crying and not being able to walk independently.

According to the police report, she recounted witnessing Rabino shake the child in irritation and forcefully placing him feet-first on the ground to make him walk.

Doctors concluded that this action likely caused fractures in both of Kai's legs, as detailed in the report.

Kai's family, particularly his father’s side, has been devastated by the loss. They have initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover the costs of the child's funeral services.

"Kai always brought a special type of Aloha to those around him," wrote Kai's grandfather, Steve Tesoro, in the GoFundMe post.

"Even in his passing, he continued this belief by donating his organs to children in need. Kai is a true hero; his Aloha and spirit will continue to live on. Kai was a joyful and spirited child who brought immense happiness to everyone who knew him, always making people smile. All he ever wanted was love."

The family also mentioned that donations would support raising Kai’s 3-year-old sister, A'leia.

Rabino is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on August 7, as per inmate records.
