Deadly Love Triangle: The Murder of Ashley Bocanegra and Conviction of Antonetta Stevens

Ashley Bocanegra was a 30-year-old mother from New York City.

She had recently moved to Georgia in search of a better life for herself and her son.

But sadly she was tragically murdered in a deadly love triangle in August 2022.

Ashley Bocanegra succumbed to her injuries after being attacked by 27-year-old Antonetta Stevens.

The incident began when Antonietta found out that her partner of five years and the father of her three-year-old son, Daniel Gonzalez, had another girlfriend.

Daniel confided in his 17-year-old sister, Janine, that he was involved with both Ashley and Antonetta at the same time.

Ashley was Daniel's manager at a nearby Floor and Decor depot.

Janine then told Antonetta, who then devised a revenge plan.

The Fatal Attack

According to Law & Crime, Antonetta used her fiancé’s phone to lure the victim into coming to her home in Burford, Georgia.

Once the victim arrived, she was attacked by Antonetta and her fiancé’s sister, Janine Gonzalez.

Janine filmed the attack as both women beat up Ashley and dragged her down the street by her hair.

At one point during the attack, Antonetta screamed, "I will murder you!"

The brutality of the attack was deemed too graphic and deadly, according to reports.

Bocanegra sustained severe injuries, including fractured ribs and liver damage, during the attack.

She was taken to a local hospital but died before surgery could be performed.

The suspects were arrested and charged with aggravated battery, robbery, and felony murder

Arrest and Interrogation Videos

When police arrived at Antonetta's home for the arrest, Antonetta showed little remorse upon hearing that her love rival had died from her injuries.

“She died? … Okay, um, wow, I’m so sorry about that — that was not my intention,” Stevens said dismissively.

Her fiancé's sister, who was the second attacker, was standing behind her on the doorstep.

Antonetta quickly tried to blame the deceased woman for “showing up here” for the fight, which she claimed was mutual.

She then immediately complained to the police about how she had “been mentally going through a lot.”

“I have bipolar depression and I’m just going through a lot right now,” she said.

She complained that she had moved with her fiancé to start a new life and never expected him to cheat on her with someone from his workplace.

While she was complaining to the cops, her cheating partner returned home.

After being taken into custody, Stevens remained silent, with her head resting on the table.

It was then that the police informed her she was being charged with Bocanegra’s killing.

“I don’t go out looking to harm anybody,” she tells detectives. “It wasn’t my intention to even get into an altercation with her today.”

Meanwhile, Janine was seen laughing and joking throughout her police interview.

However, her jaw dropped when she was informed that she was going to be charged too.

“Me!” she gasped. “Whoa, that’s, that’s, that’s too bad.”

She then tried to defend herself, saying, “No, no, no, no, what? Murder? I barely laid hands on her. All I did was pull her hair.”

Both women are now in Arrendale State Prison serving 20-year sentences for voluntary manslaughter and robbery by force.

The killing that captured national attention has recently had its full police interview footage released by Law & Crime. You can watch it below.
