A Coach Has Been Arrested For Sexually Assaulting His Young Students, and Offering To Buy Them for $5,000 each
A Florida youth basketball coach has been arrested on child molestation and human trafficking charges.
The coach, Carl Philip Lombardo, is accused of sexually abusing children and attempting to purchase them from their parents.
The investigation began when parents reported that Lombardo refused to return their 15-year-old son after a sleepover.
Lombardo sent the child's parents a video of the child pretending to write a note.
The note indicated that the child wanted to stay with him.
During the investigation, several children accused Lombardo of inappropriate touching.
They also said he took nude photos, and offered them money.
“He developed a pattern of keeping the children at his home for multiple-day stays, during which he molested two of the juvenile victims, exposed himself to the children, and photographed them inappropriately,” the sheriff’s office said
Lombardo admitted to attempting to buy children for $5,000 each.
Numerous sexually explicit images of children were found on his phone.
He claimed to be trying to "save" the children from abuse.
However, he offered contradictory statements about his actions.
Authorities believe Lombardo used his position as a coach to gain the trust of families.
After gaining their trust, he will lure the children to his home for sleepovers.
He allegedly manipulated the children through gifts, isolation, and threats.
Neighbors described Lombardo as "strange."
They said they often saw children at his house at unusual hours.
Some neighbors reported seeing children leaving Lombardo's house in tears.
Lombardo is facing multiple charges.
This includes human trafficking, child molestation, and possession of child pornography.
Authorities believe there may be more victims and are urging them to come forward.
