On a seemingly ordinary day in June 2022, 15-year-old Joniah Walker went missing from her home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
What started as a summer full of hope and new beginnings quickly turned into a nightmare for her family and friends.
Joniah Walker was born on May 15, 2007.
She was lovingly referred to by her family as "baby girl," a nickname that reflected her tender, quiet nature.
Joniah Walker was described as soft-spoken, intelligent, and shy.
She had been battling depression and PTSD but had regular sessions with a therapist to help her navigate those struggles.
Despite these challenges, Joniah's summer in 2022 was looking promising.
At 15, she had just started a new job at a local pizza place called The Pizza Shuttle in Milwaukee.
For Joniah Walker, this job was a way to step out of her shell and enjoy some newfound independence while earning a bit of extra cash.
With her future looking bright, no one could have predicted the terrifying turn her life would take.

The Last Day: What Happened on June 23, 2022?
On June 23, 2022, Joniah’s mother, Tanesha Howard, said goodbye to her daughter before heading to work.
Joniah was awake, lying in bed, and promised to text her mom later, as they often did throughout the day.
It seemed like any other normal morning.
Later that day, Joniah walker’s father was scheduled to pick her up at 3:30 p.m. so she could get her work permit for her new job at The Pizza Shuttle.
However, as the afternoon progressed, Tanesha noticed that Joniah had stopped responding to her texts.
This was unusual for the close-knit pair, who were constantly in touch.
Concerned, Tanesha’s motherly intuition kicked in.
At 3:30 p.m., Joniah’s father arrived at their home to pick her up, but she was nowhere to be found.
He tried calling and texting her, but got no response.
Alarmed, he called Tanesha, and together, they began searching for their daughter.
Hours passed with no sign of Joniah, and by the evening, her parents officially reported her as missing to the Milwaukee Police Department.
Into Thin Air: The Search for Joniah Begins
Once the authorities got involved, the search for Joniah started.
However, due to her age, law enforcement initially categorized her as a potential runaway.
But her family didn’t believe this for a second.
They knew Joniah wouldn’t just vanish without a trace, and even if she had run away, she would have needed help.
Joniah was shy, had little money, and would have struggled to survive on the streets alone.
Investigators began piecing together the few clues available.
One significant piece of evidence was a Ring doorbell camera footage.
It captured Joniah walking near East Reservoir Avenue and North Buffum Street at around 2:30 p.m., just a short walk from her home.
She was seen carrying a large army green backpack—a backpack her mother had never seen before.
This detail reminded Tanesha that Joniah had received a large Amazon package a few weeks earlier.
According to Joniah, the package was for a camping trip.
Could this backpack be part of a planned getaway?
Adding to the mystery, investigators learned that Joniah had texted her therapist at 3:27 p.m. saying she was "running away."
This raised more questions: had Joniah truly planned to leave? And if so, why?

A Chilling Connection: The Case of Sade Robinson
In April 2024, almost two years after Joniah’s disappearance, another young woman, Sade Robinson, went missing under eerily similar circumstances.
Sade lived in the same neighborhood as Joniah and had worked at The Pizza Shuttle, the same place where Joniah had just started her job.
In fact, Sade had even trained Joniah before she disappeared.
On April 1, 2024, Sade went on a first date with a 33-year-old man named Maxwell Anderson.
That night, she didn’t return home, and the next day, her family reported her missing.
Just hours later, a human leg bone was discovered in a local park, and soon after, authorities confirmed it belonged to Sade.
Her car was found burned, and Maxwell was seen on surveillance footage fleeing the scene.
When police searched his apartment, they found Sade’s personal items and blood evidence.
Maxwell Anderson was arrested and charged with murder.
But what made this case even more unsettling was that unidentified blood was found in his apartment.
The blood didn’t belong to either Sade or Maxwell.
Could this be a link to Joniah or other victims?
Was Maxwell involved in Joniah’s disappearance too?

The possibility that Sade and Joniah’s cases are connected has stirred up countless theories.
Both were young Black women from the same area, worked at the same pizza shop, and vanished under suspicious circumstances.
Could Maxwell Anderson have had a hand in Joniah’s disappearance as well, or are the two cases unrelated?
Possible Theories
1) Foul Play: One theory is that Maxwell may have had other victims.
With the discovery of unidentified blood in his apartment, many believe that he could have been involved in more disappearances.
However, the way Sade’s murder was carried out—sloppy and rushed—raises doubts.
2) Abduction: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where both girls lived, has a higher crime rate compared to other cities of its size.
However, one of the most alarming statistics is the rise in human trafficking.
From 2022 to 2023, human trafficking cases in the city surged by 43%, coinciding with the time of Joniah’s disappearance.
Could Joniah have been a victim of trafficking?
Her last known location places her walking toward the river in downtown Milwaukee.
With no other sightings or footage, many wonder if she could have been picked up by someone involved in trafficking or other criminal activity.
3) Voluntary Disappearance: The Ring camera footage and the text to her therapist hinted at the possibility that Joniah had chosen to leave on her own.
But even if she had run away, the critical questions remained:
Where did she go?
Who might have helped her?
Was she lured by someone online or someone she knew?
One of the biggest mysteries in Joniah’s case is the lack of further surveillance footage.
Despite being seen on the Ring camera at 2:30 p.m., no other cameras in the area caught sight of her after that.
Did she get into a car? Was she hiding nearby, or did someone pick her up?
Another strange detail is the lack of communication from Joniah.
In today’s connected world, it’s rare for anyone, especially a teenager, to completely vanish without leaving a digital trail.
Did she stop using her phone, or was it taken away from her?
Investigators have never publicly revealed any findings from her cell phone records, leaving the public to wonder if more clues exist.
Ongoing Efforts: Still Searching for Answers
More than two years after Joniah Walker’s disappearance, her family and the community continue to search for answers.
Despite the lack of new leads, they hold onto hope that someone out there knows what happened to her.
The Milwaukee Police Department and organizations like the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children continue to investigate and encourage anyone with information to come forward.
Joniah’s family believes that if she had run away, she would have eventually contacted them, even if just to let them know she was okay.
The fact that she hasn’t made any contact is one of the most troubling aspects of her case.
Joniah Walker's disappearance remains one of Milwaukee’s most haunting mysteries.
Did she run away?
Was she lured into something far more sinister?
Is she still out there, waiting to be found, or did she meet with harm that day in June 2022?
The search for Joniah continues, and her story deserves to be shared far and wide.
Someone out there knows something, and it’s time for the truth to come to light.
