The Heart-Wrenching Disappearance of Morgan Nick: A Search That Still Continues

In June 1995, a little girl named Morgan Nick attended a Little League baseball game with her mother.

The event was filled with laughter, excitement, and the simple joys of childhood.

But for Morgan and her family, that night would mark the beginning of a nightmare that still hasn’t ended.

Right after the game, Morgan Nick mysteriously vanished.

Despite the countless efforts of law enforcement, volunteers, and her family, Morgan Nick remains missing to this day.

Her disappearance not only shocked her small hometown of Alma, Arkansas, but also resonated nationwide.

A Family Night Turns into a Tragedy

Morgan Chauntel Nick was just six years old at the time of her disappearance.

She was a bright-eyed girl who loved playing outside and catching fireflies.

On June 9, 1995, she attended a Little League baseball game in Alma, Arkansas, with her mother, Colleen Nick.

As the game was wrapping up around 10:30 p.m., Morgan asked her mom if she could catch fireflies with her friends.

Colleen hesitated at first, but eventually agreed.

Morgan, filled with excitement, ran off to play.

Fifteen minutes later, Morgan was last seen by her friends.

She was seen emptying sand out of her shoes near her mother’s car.

Her friends, who were nearby, reported seeing a “creepy” man talking to her.

Shortly after, they returned to their parents, assuming Morgan was already back at the car.

However, Morgan wasn’t there.

Colleen’s heart sank as she searched for her daughter, only to realize she had vanished.

From a Small Town to a National Concern

The disappearance of Morgan Nick immediately set off alarms in the small town of Alma.

Within hours, local authorities launched an extensive search.

But as the hours stretched into days, and days into weeks, the search spread far beyond Alma’s borders.

In the months and years that followed, law enforcement received countless tips, leading them across multiple states.

Despite these efforts, none of the leads provided a concrete breakthrough.

However, Morgan’s mother, Colleen Nick, refused to give up hope.

In 1996, she founded the Morgan Nick Foundation.

It is an organization dedicated to preventing child abductions and assisting families of missing children.

The Investigation

Morgan's disappearance occurred so swiftly and quietly that investigators had very few leads to pursue.

The man seen talking to Morgan before she went missing has remained unidentified at the time.

Despite the extensive investigation, no definitive evidence of what happened that night has surfaced.

In the years following her abduction, police and investigators conducted multiple searches and digs based on tips.

One of the more notable searches took place in 2002 in Booneville, Arkansas.

At the time, the police believed they had found a location where Morgan might have been buried.

Unfortunately, after a thorough search, the investigation came to an end without any results.

Another search occurred in 2010 when federal investigators searched a vacant house in Spiro, Oklahoma, for DNA evidence.

Despite initial optimism, once again, the search ended without any major breakthroughs.

A similar search took place in 2017, after another tip led investigators to a well on the same property.

Cadaver dogs were brought in, but no evidence connected to Morgan was discovered.

Investigating the Unknown: Theories and New Developments

As the investigation continued, several theories emerged regarding who may have taken Morgan and what could have happened to her.

Over the years, the FBI and local law enforcement have named various individuals of interest.

However, none seemed as promising as the lead that surfaced in 2021.

In November 2021, police publicly named a man named Billy Jack Lincks as a person of interest in Morgan’s case.

Lincks, who had died in 2000 while serving a prison sentence for an unrelated crime, owned a red pickup truck.

This car closely resembled a vehicle witnesses had seen near the baseball field on the night of Morgan’s disappearance.

Investigators discovered fibers in Lincks’ truck that closely matched fibers from Morgan’s clothing.

In a dramatic new development, on October 1, 2024, Alma police held a press conference.

They  announced that newly discovered DNA evidence strongly linked the Nick family to the interior of Lincks’ truck.

Although Lincks passed away years ago, this discovery has reinvigorated the investigation.

It has given renewed hope to Morgan’s family and law enforcement that they may be closer than ever to solving the case.

The Agony of Time: Age Progressions and the Passage of Years

For Morgan’s family, particularly her mother, Colleen, the passing years have been filled with heartbreak, hope, and an unimaginable emotional toll.

One of the hardest parts for Colleen has been receiving the "age progressions" of Morgan.

These pictures were created by forensic artists to show what Morgan might look like as she grows older.

While they serve as a crucial tool in helping the public identify long-term missing children, for parents like Colleen, they are bittersweet.

It’s painful to see these images of her daughter growing up through these approximations, knowing she never had the chance to witness those changes in real life.

Colleen has described receiving these images as “piercing her heart,”

However, she knows they’re necessary in the fight to find her daughter.

The Fight Continues: Ongoing Efforts and Recent Developments

Despite the many years that have passed since that fateful June night, the search for Morgan Nick has never stopped.

In fact, the Morgan Nick Foundation continues to support other families going through similar tragedies, while keeping Morgan’s story alive.

The foundation’s work has been essential in ensuring that the public never forgets Morgan’s face and story.

The recent DNA evidence that links Morgan to Billy Jack Lincks’ truck has been a significant step forward in the case, but the investigation is ongoing.

Law enforcement remains hopeful that with more tips and technological advances, the case will eventually be solved.

Colleen Nick has never wavered in her belief that Morgan could still be alive.

Her hope is that, one day, Morgan herself might see her own age progression in the media, recognize herself, and come forward.

The mystery of what happened to Morgan Nick still lingers.

However, the hope that she will be found remains just as strong as it was on the night she disappeared.

For now, the world continues to wait with bated breath, holding onto the belief that someday, Morgan Nick will come home.

Lincks, a local veteran, had been arrested shortly after for attempting to solicit another child in Alma, using a red truck resembling the one seen in Nick’s abduction.

At the time, Lincks denied any involvement in her case, and authorities moved on.

However, in 2019, the case took a turn when investigators found the truck Lincks had owned during the time of Morgan’s disappearance.

The current owners, with no connection to Lincks, allowed the FBI to search the vehicle for evidence.

DNA results showed a match to Morgan's family members, leading investigators to conclude that the young girl had been in Lincks' truck.

Alma Police confirmed this breakthrough, identifying Lincks as the “single suspect” in the case, though the investigation remains ongoing.

Morgan’s mother, Colleen, expressed gratitude to those who have supported her family throughout the years.

She relected on how their love for Morgan has endured, even after Lincks’ death.

The search for Morgan, however, continues, and she remains officially listed as “still missing.”
