The Unsolved Disappearance of Tanja Ebert in South Australia

In South Australia, Tanja Ebert's disappearance continues to haunt criminal investigators and the public alike.

Tanja was a young woman seeking adventure, but her life took a tragic turn after her marriage to Michael Burdon.

The 23-year-old mother vanished in 2017, leaving behind more questions than answers.

Despite exhaustive efforts, her case remains one of Australia's unsolved mysteries.

Who Was Tanja Ebert?

Born in Germany, Tanja Ebert was a young woman with dreams of exploring the world.

At just 18, she left her hometown to backpack across Australia, immersing herself in the vast landscapes and unique culture.

Her journey led her to Mannahill, a remote South Australian settlement, where she met Michael Burdon.

Micheal was a sheep farmer and was 18 years her senior.

Despite their age difference and contrasting backgrounds, the two married in February 2017.

They settled at Oulnina Park Station, a sprawling 410-square-kilometer sheep property, where Tanja became a devoted mother to their two young sons.

However, cracks in their seemingly idyllic life began to surface.

Tanja reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with her isolated life on the farm.

What Happened to Tanja Ebert?

The chilling timeline of Tanja Ebert's disappearance began on August 8, 2017.

CCTV footage captured her at the South Australian Museum in Adelaide, enjoying a family outing with her husband and children.

Hours later, while driving home, Michael Burdon claimed they had an argument near Roseworthy.

According to him, Tanja became agitated, got out of the car, and walked away without any belongings, including her passport and phone.

He alleged that she vanished into the night.

Sadly, her disappearance wasn't reported to law enforcement in Adelaide until after two days.

Finally, a family member—not Michael—alerted authorities.

By then, suspicions had mounted, and police began treating her case as a probable murder
