The Timeline of a Tragic Discovery

On December 20, 2024, New Castle County police received a call from Tracy’s employer.

They were alarmed by her unexplained absence from work for several days.

Officers visited her apartment at the Village of Kent Apartments on Stone Place, only to find troubling signs that hinted at foul play.

This prompted them to issue a Gold Alert for her disappearance.

The investigation quickly identified Norbert Matara as a person of interest.

Detectives collaborated with the Aberdeen Police Department and located Matara’s vehicle in Maryland on December 21, 2024.

Inside the car, they found human remains, later confirmed to belong to 31-year-old Tracy Nyariki.

Matara was arrested on the spot and is awaiting extradition to Delaware, where he will face a charge of first-degree murder.
